This variation of the Jessica Mydek chain
letter has been circulating since January of 1999. The original Jessica Mydek
letter goes back to 1997. This is a hoax letter based directly on the original
with the name deleted. Certainly, the name was deleted because so many people
have heard of the Jessica Mydek letter that many recipients delete it as soon
as they see the name. The poem was added to a portion of the original letter to
tug a bit more at your heart strings.
Below are the two latest versions forwarded
to me. Please Do Not Forward as there is no child that will receive any money
from the American Cancer Society. There is no way to track email forwardings,
and that is not how the American Cancer Society determines the distribution of
funds (ie. based on random email forwardings) They know about this hoax and have
issued a statement. I find it interesting that it says not to delete it
until you read who it is from, BUT it is unsigned and the beneficiary is never
named!
