MULTIPLICATION - TRICK - 5 Cont.

Dear Friend:

Now you know how to multiply 9 by just using your fingers?

Continue further.

Use your both hands facing towards you. Spread your fingers and count from left.

Now, the left most finger that is the thumb of left hand is number 11, next finger is number 12, the next is number 13, number 14, 15, 16, ... and the right most finger that is the other thumb, the thumb of right hand is number 20.

Now if you want to multiply 9 x 11, bend your first finger that is the thumb of your left hand.

The value of bent finger is 9.

Now count the fingers left to the bent finger. There are none. 9 plus 0 equals 9.

Place 9 in left column.

Now count the remaining straight fingers right to the bent finger. They are 9.

Place 9 in right column.

The answer is 99. 9 x 1 = 99.

Now multiply 9 x 12.

Bend your second finger.

Count the fingers left to the bent finger. It is 1.

The value of bent finger is 9. 9 plus 1 equals 10.

Place 10 in left column.

Count the fingers right to the bent finger. They are 8.

Place 8 in the right column.

The answer is: 9 x 12 = 108.

Multiply 9 x 13.

Number of fingers to the left of bent finger is 2 plus 9 for the bent finger makes 11.

Place 11 in the left column.

Number of fingers right to the bent finger is 7. Place 7 in right column.

The answer is: 9 x 13 = 117.

Number of fingers left to the bent finger is 3. Add 9 for the bent finger. 9 plus 3 equals 12.

Place 12 in the left column.

Number of fingers right to the bent finger is 6.

Place 6 in the right column.

The answer is: 9 x 14 = 126.
