MULTIPLICATION - TRICK - 4

Do you want to multiply large numbers quickly? Use calculator. You can do it in seconds.

If you do not want to use calculator but want to use your brain follow the magic steps given.

Suppose you want to multiply 11 x 24.

Take a sheet of paper. Draw a line to make two columns. On the left write number 1. Double it and write 2 below it. Double 2 and write 4 below 2. Double 4 and write 8, and so on.

On right column, write the number you are multiplying by. In our case, 24. Double 24 and write 48 under 24. Double 48 and write 96 under 48. Double 96 and write 192 under 96.

Both columns would look like this:

                                                    1    |      24

                                                    2    |      48

                                                    4    |      96

                                                    8    |    192

                                                  16    |    384

Now find the numbers in the left column that add up to the first number in the multiplication you want to do. In our case it is 11. 1+2+8 = 11. Pick the numbers in the right column opposite these numbers. Add them together. In our case these are 24+48+192 = 264. You got the answer.

            11 x 24 = 264.
